Why Take GED Exam?

Passing the GED tests will grant you the GED diploma. A GED Diploma is recognized as the equivalent of a high school diploma. Many people take the GED tests for various reasons.

One reason is employment. Many employers now will not hire job applicants who do not have a high school diploma or GED diploma. People who have their high school diploma or GED diploma have higher chances of securing better employment. Others take the GED to enroll in technical schools, vocational schools, and apprenticeships that may require a high school diploma or GED diploma.

Lastly, others take the GED as their ultimate aspiration. No matter what your reason is for taking the GED, it is surely a positive move towards success. Congratulations, you are one step closer!

Requirements

Obtaining a High School Equivalency Diploma requires that an individual write and pass the 5 General Educational Development (GED) tests.

The 5 GED Tests are:

Test 1: Language Arts – Writing Test (Part I and Part II)

Test 2: Social Studies

Test 3: Science

Test 4: Language Arts – Reading Test:

Test 5: Mathematics (Part I and Part II)

Eligibility

To receive a High School Equivalency Diploma by writing GED tests, a person must meet of the following eligibility requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older 
  • have been out of school for at least 10 consecutive months
  • pass all five tests in the General Educational Development (GED) test battery, with a standard score of 450 or better for each tests
  • meet other eligibility requirements

April is a freelance instructor and has more than 20 years of educational experience. She graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts Major in English (Magna cumlaude – with High Honours). She also has a Bachelor of Laws and Professional Education. She is currently earning her Masters units in Legal Education with subjects American Law and Jurisprudence, International Human Rights, Competition Law, Evidence in Drug Cases. At the same time, she is a freelance ESL teacher who loves to teach individuals. April volunteers most of her time helping others learn and improve their lives.

Marlon Pinaso

Freelance Instructor/ Coach

Marlon is an experienced  educator for more than 20 years. He taught Basic Mathematics to Advanced Mathematics including Advanced Calculus. He is also an experienced employment specialist assisting the learners secure employment, teaching lectures for GED test preparation, career development  and life skills classes. Marlon is graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in Mathematics and he completed the Academic Requirements for Master in Teaching Mathematics (with Honors). Marlon has great passion in transforming the lives of the learners by providing quality education and service!
